sure, I don't shop there. I never have. I think I was fairly clear on why I despise WalMart. They do horrible things to a community. It goes much further than your shirt or your kitchen, WalMart strikes at the heart of the community. It destroys local businesses, and creates menial labor jobs in their place. It supplants any local flavor by doing this, instead bringing in truckloads of generic goods. This is true for many of the chain and 'big box' stores, Target, K-Mart, Home Depot. One major difference is their method of competition, which is not just immoral but illegal (selling below retail to drive out competitors has been documented), and their labor practices, which are oppresive and prejudiced. The reason for the mention of the DOS approach is that in order to slow the juggernaut opponents need to actively oppose the machine.

Why do people hate Walmart so much? It's cheap. Yeah, it's soulless, but do you really want soul with your kitchen appliances? It makes things more expensive. In any case, there's a much easier way than your "DOS" approach; just don't shop there.
