By that definition, then Madeleine Albright was a "political nobody".

Political Nobody? Know your Governator. Schwartzenegger has had his hand in the political pot for years. He went on the campaign trail with Bush (Part I & II) and married Maria Shriver (i.e. a Kennedy). As early as the late 80s, he has stated in numerous interviews that he has political aspirations.

I don't think that California felt that they couldn't do any worse with a political nobody. I think a combination of economic anger, star-power, and a GOP platform promising "change and reform" ushered the Schwartzenegger into the Governor's Mansion.

But that's just my take... as an Ex-Californian too.

someone metioned to me that CA needed an able manager to fix it's problems when Davis was recalled. The thing is, with Davis' career in politics going back about 30 years, with a stint as the state comptroller, AND lieutenant governor, they HAD an "able manager", and he didn't do his job. That's why they stuck it there. CA voted in a political nobody because how could he possibly make anything worse than someone with 30 years of experience did.
